“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever Believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Today, we are celebrating the life of Deacon AZ Freeman. To his wife, he was known as “Azerry”, but to his children, he was “Pops”. To his grandkids he was “Boochie”, to his siblings he was “Baby”, to his in-laws he was “Honeymooner”, and to many of his friends he was known as “Z”. He was born to KC and Alene Freeman on April 8, 1958, in Dothan, AL.
AZ was married to Jacqueline Freeman from April 1978 to her untimely death in December 2011. AZ later found love again and married Angelia Walker of Dothan, Alabama, in 2012.
Many knew AZ as an entrepreneur owning multiple businesses; however, AZ was a multifaceted man. AZ will be remembered as an inventor, amateur photographer, artist, a black belt hustler, and a huge jokester. He loved all things thrifting and all things Coca-Cola.
AZ Freeman departed this life on July 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, KC and Alene Freeman; his first wife, Jacqueline Freeman; four siblings, Louise Freeman, Lula Mae Adare, LeRue Freeman, and Calvin Freeman.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife and best friend, Angelia Freeman; children, Catina Massey, Adrienne Andersen (Jayan), Alexander Freeman (Jacqueline), Erica Richmond (Kevin), Anthony McGrady (Ebonee), Nicholas Freeman (Austin), Tashika Smith (Michael), and Matthew Okonkwo; grandchildren, Cara Massey, Landyn Richmond, Jayan Andersen, Jr., Aysia
Richmond, Dalyn Richmond, Ava Andersen, Kingston Smith, and Myles Okonkwo; siblings, Ora Lee Freeman, Pearlean McKinney (Roy), Maylene Anglin, Ann Greenwood, Martha Callins (Henry),
