Alberta Dixon Obituary

Alberta Dixon was born to Lula Mae and Ealie Deloach in Furman, South Carolina on November 22, 1945. Alberta was nicknamed Bert. She was accompanied into the world by her identical twin brothers, Albert and Arthur. This made them a trio. They were the first triplets born in the Carolinas. Her other siblings were Willie, Florence, John, Louise, and Mary. Alberta’s formative years were spent in Estill, S.C. She attended school with her siblings. Her mother later moved her family to Savannah, Georgia where they settled in for good. Alberta later moved to Miami, Florida with her first husband and their four children (Jacquelyn Williams, Shequeta Blake, Warren Williams, and Shevetta Williams) where they raised their family. Alberta attended The House of God Miracle Temple in Hollywood, Florida for many years and worked full time as a housekeeper and was a babysitter. She worked very hard and loved children.

In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her favorite sports on television. She loved gymnastics, ice skating, tennis (The Williams Sisters), football, and wrestling. When we were young, she could often be heard cheering on her favorite athletes. Alberta made ceramics a hobby for a while. After changing employers, Alberta worked for Broward County School District as a custodian at Cooper City Elementary School. She took pride in her daily tasks making sure every inch of “her section” was cleaned from top to bottom. She loved the children there and would often speak of them.

Many years later, she met Paul Dixon. They were wedded in holy matrimony on May 12, 2009.  He affectionately called her “Honey Bun.” She converted from Pentecostalism to the A.M.E. (African Methodist Episcopal) doctrine to join her husband. Alberta attended church faithfully and served as a missionary. Their union was broken when God called Paul to Glory. Alberta retired a few years later and moved to Savannah to spend time there. She moved back to South Florida in 2021 to be close to her family.

Those left behind to continue her legacy include: her children, Jacquelyn Williams, Shequeta Blake, Warren Williams, and Shevetta Williams; sister, Mary Thomas; nine grandchildren, Shantel Hill, Shaquell and Cristal Smith, Aaron Kilpatrick, Amandla and Marcus Blake, Warniesha, Wanya, and Warrick Williams; four great grandchildren.
