Anthony Thomas Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Thomas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and church member, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. Born and raised in the Arco Community of Glynn County, Georgia, he was revered as a man of deep faith, compassion, and love of service to others; qualities learned at home and strengthened in his faith walk.

The early years of Tony’s education were at the Arco Elementary School. He went on to graduate from Risley High School with the Class of 1966. After graduation, he spent time working at Thiokol in Woodbine, Georgia, just prior to the explosion. Tony later joined the U.S. Air Force and, after retirement, returned home. With an interest, in mechanics, he was certified in HVAC at Brunswick Junior College.

Tony was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church. His abiding mission was to encourage others to know the Lord, and to walk in faith and love through Jesus Christ. His faith directed the steps of his journey and remained the foundation of his life.

Tony shared 41 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Debra Marie Thomas. Together they raised five daughters, and built a legacy that continues through 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; all of whom adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lessie Thomas; three sisters, Irene Copps, Lillian Riggins, and Dorothy Thomas; one brother, Edward Lowe; two nephews, Charles Thomas, and Gregory Grant; and two grandchildren, Shan R. Flowers and Jimicia Brantley.

Tony will forever be remembered for his kind spirit, generous heart, and love of bible discussions. He had an unwavering commitment to his family and his church. Whether sharing a low-country boil or an encouraging word, he embodied love and integrity.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Debra Thomas;  five loving daughters, Dana Thomas, Dwan Thomas-Flowers, Dawn Wynn (Donna), Valerie Thomas (James), and Deanna Clinch (Rafael); one sister, Cynthia Burton (Willie); two brothers, Reginald Thomas and Michael Thomas (Nagene); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. I John 2:17
