Arthur Hargrove Obituary

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.” I Thessalonians 4:13

The Bible explains that our time on earth would be three scores and ten, so God fulfilled his promise over my life by allowing me to spend four extra years preparing each of you for my departure. As I depart this life for eternity, please don’t shed any tears or sing any sad goodbye songs. I couldn’t stay another day when I saw those angels opening those golden gates. As I walked those timeless stairs, God Almighty was standing there. Farewell to my family and friends. My time on earth has ended, you know.

Arthur Hargrove was born on January 13, 1949, to Gilbert and Annie Mae Hargrove in Riceboro, Georgia. He received his formal education at Todd Grant High School, Class of 1967, in Darien, Georgia. He accepted Christ as his Savior at Gould Branch Baptist Church at the age of sixteen and was united with Gould Branch Baptist Church.  Arthur was united in holy matrimony with Adell Belinda Lawrence on June 7, 1974, in Brunswick, Georgia. Their union was blessed with two children. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army on September 6, 1967. He was honorably discharged on September 4, 1970. He was employed by Brunswick Pulp and Paper as a machine operator for 44 years, and retired in 2016. In his leisure, he enjoyed reading, watching sports, remodeling, and renovating his home. He was a member of Future Farmers of America. Arthur Hargrove departed this life on March 24, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Hargrove, Sr.; mother, Annie Mae Simmons, stepfather, Josh Simmons, Sr., and brother, Gilbert Hargrove, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Adell Belinda Hargrove; son, Demetrious Leonard Lawrence; daughter, Devalon M. Lawrence; granddaughter, Devry J. Lawrence; great-granddaughter, Kalani Navaeh Baker; siblings, Louise Moran, Anthony Hargrove, Fay A. (Kenneth) Thompson, Kenneth E. Hargrove, Franklin (Francis) Hargrove, Josh (Janice) Simmons, Jr., Alfred D. (Trista) Simmons, Mary A. Simmons, Steve (Yolanda) Simmons, Arnol Simmons, and Alicia (Dwayne) Ramey; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
