“I went home on the morning train, so goodbye world.” It is with a shout of joy and a grateful heart that I say “see you in the morning” to all those I leave behind! For I knew that if this old earthly body gave out, that I had a building from God, eternal in the heavens, not made by man’s hands. I have overcome the world because my faith did not stand in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God. Thank you, Father, that by your stripes I am healed. Through every lash, I received divine strength. Through every lash, I received divine wisdom. Through every lash, I received divine healing. To my beautiful children and loved ones that I am leaving behind, as you celebrate my return to my Heavenly Father, I want each of you to always remember that some people die without having really lived. Others continue to live, although they have died. Don’t worry about me, I lived a full life and now I am resting in the arms of my Heavenly Father.
When God created Bernice Proctor on September 13, 1952, to the union of Henry and Lucille Proctor in Brunswick, Georgia, He created an amazing angel who was blessed with many gifts. The greatest gift bestowed upon her was the gift to sing. The anointing to sing was a blessing that was given by God to many of her family members as well, especially her sisters. They were anointed with the elevation of empowering the Holy Spirit in many spiritual settings through their gift of singing. God was the foundation of their raising and development. As a child her parents taught the family that if they took time to be faithful in the things, He gave them to do, that He would take care of them and their family. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much (James
5:16-17). Bernice accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age at Abysinia Baptist Church where she served as a member of the choir. The tool of education is a tool that helps others to achieve success in life. Bernice received her formal education from the famous and great Risley High School in Brunswick, Georgia. Her educational experiences afforded her many opportunities. Remember that whatever gift you have been given by God, share it with the world. Continue to achieve and walk in your greatness. Remember all of the great memories we made in life and use them to comfort your sorrow and broken heart. I prepared each of you to live after I am gone. Don’t forget that family is all that you have in life, so love each other and show each other agape love. She was an original member of the Gospel Jewels along with her sisters, Annie and Marie; whereby, she served as the secretary for the group. They were together for
over 35 years. She was also a member of the Americus Quartet Convention.
She fought a good fight, her race is finished, and without a shadow of a doubt, she kept the faith till the end. Bernice left this earth knowing that there was a crown of righteousness waiting for not only her, but to all of you who long to meet the risen Savior. Bernice earned her Heavenly wings on October 3, 2024, in Americus, Georgia. To God be the glory for a life exemplified by an unwavering faith, her love for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lucille Proctor; sisters, Christine Proctor Anderson and Minnie Marie Proctor
and brother, Raymond Proctor.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Shanda Morine; son, Samuel Curtis III; two grandsons; Samuel L. Curtis and Johnathan Morine, Jr.; one granddaughter, Jomekia Morine; one sister, Annie Flowers; one brother, Henry Lee Proctor; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
