Carolyn Marie Baker was born on December 30, 1953, to Willie James Thompson and Maeola Williams in Brunswick, Georgia. She received her formal education at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, GA.
Carolyn Marie Baker accepted Christ as her Savior at Bryant Baptist Church in Brunswick, Georgia. After moving to California, she attended Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, California. While living there, she attended Bible Fellowship Church, under the leadership of Pastor Deshay Ward, where she sang in the choir and served as an usher. She worked at a local bank. She later moved to Texas, where she attended Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop K. D. Davis, Sr., where she became a choir member and served as an usher. Upon her return to Brunswick, she became an active member of New Life Interfaith Christian Church, under the leadership of Pastor Barbara Holland, and rededicated her life to God. While attending she played the tambourine, assisted in the food bank, and shared her love of God. She was employed by Southeast Georgia Health System in SPD.
Carolyn Marie Baker departed this life on December 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie James Thompson; mother, Maeola Williams; son, Eric LeShon Baker and brother-in-law, Donald Hillery.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Gerald L. Baker, Sr. (Susan) and Dr. Khrystion C. FuQua’ (Kourtney); grandchildren, Bria Drayton, Elizabeth Ledman (Joseph), Gerald Baker, Jr. (Emmi), Jamie Baker, Ramie Baker, Joshua Devine, Dykquari Baker; siblings, Beverly Hillery, Elberta Higdon (Keith), Cassandra Bell, Thelma Thompson, James Thompson, John Thompson; two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Due to the current state of (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing; as well as attending all graveside or funeral service, either inside or outside, must wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home or any other facility at any given period during the viewing process. We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative to each of you for all acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time in their lives.
