Carolyn Hillery Obituary

Carolyn “KAT” Hillery was born on August 29, 1950, to Alton and Daisy Douglas in Brunswick, Georgia. She attended local schools and graduated from Risley High School. She furthered
her education at Manpower Technical School, where she studied business and got her accounting degree. Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age and became a member
of Halls Temple, where she was a member for over thirty years. She later became a member of New Mercies under the spiritual guidance of Pastor Denny Wood and stayed for the
transitioning of New Mercies to Become Church with the spiritual guidance of Pastor Elvin Wood.

Carolyn Clarice Douglas was united in holy matrimony to Ned Hillery, Sr., in 1968 in North Carolina. Their union was blessed with three children, LaQuanya Hillery (who preceded
her in death), Ned Hillery, Jr., and LaNedra Hillery.

Her hobbies included reading, decorating, spending time with God and family, and telling everyone about the love of Christ. She and her husband owned N & C Masonry and Construction, where she served as chief operations officer and bookkeeper. She was a member of the NAACP and Black Panthers.

Carolyn Douglas Hillery departed this life on March 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Daisy
Douglas; husband, Ned Hillery, Sr.; daughter, LaQuanya Hillery; and brothers, Alfred and Albert Douglas.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, LaNedra Hillery; son, Ned Hillery, Jr.; grandsons, Zalon’tae Hillery and Damon’tae Snipes; sister, Althedia (Aubrey) Gordon;
brother, Alphonso Douglas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
