Today, we find peace and understanding because we realize that God is close to the brokenhearted and he comforts those whose spirits are crushed but, we find comfort in knowing that a loving God knows best. Cleveland Sheard, Sr., was born on March 4, 1941 to Lilly Mae Lewis and Chummy Sheard in Sasser, GA. Cleveland Sheard, Sr., received his formal education at Caveria High School in Terrell, GA. Cleveland Sheard, Sr., accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age.
Cleveland Sheard, Sr., was united in holy matrimony to Frances Mae Taylor on July 31, 1964 in Brunswick, GA. Their union was blessed with 5 children: Cleveland Sheard, Jr., Terrie Sheard, Christine Short, Angela Fisher and Martha Taylor.
In his leisure, he enjoyed landscaping, spending time with his family and friends, and watching Westerns. He was employed by the City of Brunswick as a Sanitation Worker for 15 years and later became self employed as a landscaper for several years, before his health issues got worst.
Cleveland Sheard, Sr., departed this life on January 13, 2021. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Frances Sheard on September 15, 1998; daughter, Angela Fisher.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Cleveland Sheard, Jr., (Lisa Sheard) and Terrie Lee Sheard; one daughter, Christine Short; grandchildren, Tinesha N. Lee (Buster Lee), Darren D. Cowart (Juanita Cowart), Sharitta Jackson (Azia Jackson), Tameka Thomas (Robert Thomas), Kenneth Jackson, Jr. (Arra Mae Thomas), Dennis Short, and Denise Short; one devoted niece who was more like a sister, Johnnie B. Johnson; host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and other family members.
Due to the current state of (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, as ordered by the Governor for the State of Georgia, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing; as well as attending all graveside services must wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home at any given period during the viewing process. We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative to each of you for your prayers and considerations during this difficult time in their lives.
