A page has been turned, the chapter of my life is now completed. Remember the battle I fought to remain on earth with each of you. A victory has been won, a life’s book closed, and it was all part of God’s plans for me. Let your mind wander through the path of remembrance, reliving the joy and good times we had.
DEACON CURTIS C. AUSTELL, SR., was born on October 14, 1956, to the late Mr. Roosevelt Austell, Sr. and Mrs. Fannie C. Austell in Waverly, Georgia. Curtis C. Austell, Sr., received his formal education at Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Georgia.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, and was later united with Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon of the church.
Deacon Curtis C. Austell, Sr., was united in holy matrimony with Patricia Vaughn on March 19, 1994, in Brunswick, Georgia. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with family, cooking and
watching football. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Bulldogs. He was employed by Bennies Red Barn as a Chef (Steaks) for fifty years.
God called His servant, peacefully and quietly, to rest from the trials and labors of his earthly life. Deacon Curtis C. Austell, Sr. departed this life on August 2, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie C. Austell; father, Roosevelt Austell, Sr.; and three brothers, Lester Austell, Jerry Lee Clark and Leroy Austell.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Patricia Vaughn-Austell; sons, Dwayne ( Thewanna) Austell, Sr., Wayne (Kuwanakey) Austell, Sr., and Curtis C. Austell, Jr.; bonus children, Latasha Vaughn, Tenesha (Jamal) Daniels, Brandon Vaughn, Roy Mangram, Matthew Mangram and Tamika Mangram; three sisters, Rhonda (Robert) Jaudon, Evelyn (William) Lane and Nanci (John) Clark; one brother, Roosevelt (Belinda) Austell, Jr.; a special aunt and uncle, Annette Griffin and Pastor Johnny Griffin; special friends, Joe Clinch and Walter Calhoun; grandchildren; great-grand-children, three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
