Cynthia Atkinson

Cynthia Y. Atkinson was born on August 27, 1955, in Miami, Florida to the late Levi and Ella Louise McClary Atkinson.

She joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a graduate of the Camden County School System. She worked for many years driving the school bus and she worked for Gateway many years driving the vans until she retired.

She departed this life on January 22, 2024, at the Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Elouise and Lonnie Cobb, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sons, Melrone Atkinson and Harlington (Mandy) Hughes; eight granddaughters, Matiana, Kenetria, Armani, Ja’Myia, Destiny, Kaleeia, Nyla, and Aries; four grandsons, Melrone, Jr., Marquis, Brandon and Cameron; cousin, Sharon Merrell; nephew, Lonnie (Antoinett) Cobb; aunt, Hattie Atkinson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Due to the current state of (the COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home or any other facility at any given period during the viewing process.  We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative of each of you for all acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time in their lives.
