Darlene Collins Obituary

To all my loved ones that I am leaving behind, don’t worry about me because my Heavenly Father has set me free. Please be forever grateful and thankful for the happiness we’ve shared. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. This place was never meant to be a permanent home for any of us. Through all the pain and heartaches, give praises and honor to my Heavenly Father. As you celebrate the end of my life’s journey, I pray that each of you will find comfort in knowing that a loving and compassionate God knows what is best for each of us.

In life there is a beginning and an end. My life began in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on January 3, 1970, when God lent me to my parents Barbara Rhett and Leonard Collins to nurture, love, and raise until he sent His angels to return me home. My educational experience ended at Brunswick High School in Brunswick, GA. I always had this inclination that my time on earth was limited so I began my Christian journey at an early age and was united with Crusade Body of Christ where I served as a position in the choir the usher board. My life’s been full; I’ve savored much. I enjoyed watching the Dancing Dolls, Tommy the Clown, Hallmark Movies, and Lifetime. I never had children, but I loved all kids, and my god daughter La’Tesia was the love of my life. Everybody knew that I loved McDonald’s, especially those fries, that’s why I was employed by McDonald’s as a lobby attendant for one year.

God saw my struggles and pain, so He sent His angels on January 20, 2024, to reclaim His gift to this world. I was preceded in death by two grandmothers, four aunts and two nephews.

I leave to cherish my memories: my husband, Harold Howard; mother and father, Barbara and Eugene Rhett; two sisters, Charlene Addison and Kenita Wallace; one god daughter, La’Tesia Pinkney; a host of loving uncles and aunts, Eddie (Yvonne) Barnes and Sammie Rhett  of Fort Lauderdale, FL, James (Joanne) Wallace of Hollywood, FL, Rachell (Rudy) Nethels of Springfield, GA, Joseph (Patricia) Rhett, Edna Lee “Slim” Rhett, Lamont (Melvina) Rhett, Willie (Danielle) Rhett, Louis Rhett all of Brunswick, GA and Thomas Rhett of Springfield, GA; three nieces, Keshon Wright, Aqueelah Florence and Barbett Addison; eight great niece; seven great nephew; and a host of loving cousins and friends.

Due to the current state of (the COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing.
