It is a blessing from Heaven above to toil this earth for an entire century (100 years) and to die peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at his residence surrounded by your loving family. As a result of the strengthen bestowed to him by God, who promised him only three scores and ten years in the 90th Psalms, Deacon Marvin Griffin, Sr., lived 100 years, ten months and 20 days, which was one month and 20 days short of living 101 years. He was the eldest of three children born to the late Charlie and Rosena Walker Griffin on February 19, 1919 in Miley, South Carolina.He was predeceased in death by: his parents; loving wife, Bernice Ruth Griffin; daughters, Ethel Mae Bryant and Elvina Mungin; siblings, Willie and Reece Griffin.
He was married to the late Bernice Ruth Griffin and to this union seven children were born.
He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories and to continue his legacy: children, Sadie Dixie, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Charles (Annie Ruth) Griffin, Estill, SC, Rose Marie Bennett, Varnville, SC, Gail Jefferson, Barbara (George Kenneth) Youmans, Priscilla (Henry) Sabb, Marvin, Jr. (Regina) Griffin and Pastor Tony (Annette) Griffin all of Nixville, SC, and Valentino Howard, Ellabell, GA; grandson reared in the home, Ricky Griffin, Point South, SC; 41 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren; a special granddaughter and great grandson, Bernesha (Miles) Youmans; his brother’s wife, Sarah Griffin, Washington, DC; sisters-in-law, Carrie (John) Cohen, Shirley Brown, and Mary Ann Duncan all of Nixville, SC; brother-in-law, Lindsey (Loretta) Wright, Nixville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many sympathetic friends.
