Van Butler, Jr., was born on December 23, 1952, to the union of Van Butler, Sr., and Bernice Young Butler in Hartford, Connecticut.
Van Butler, Jr., received his formal education at Trenton High School in Trenton, New Jersey. He received a full track & field scholarship at the University of Maryland, studying business administration.
Van Butler, Jr., accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 and was united with Greater Works Than These Ministries, where he served as a Deacon.
Van Butler, Jr., was united in holy matrimony with Donna Lawrence on August 19, 2005, in Brunswick, Georgia.
Van Butler loved serving the Lord; he loved writing books, teaching God’s word, and watching Westerns.
He was employed by Glynn County Public School System as a custodian for 10 years. Mr. Butler worked construction and as an orderly for many years.
Van Butler, Jr., departed this life on June 19, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Van, Sr., and Bernice Butler.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Donna Butler; his children, Vanessa (Joe) Carter, Van Butler III, and Toni Soloman; sisters, Helen Patience and Susan (Darryl) Dawson; stepchildren, LaWonda Herrington, LoRenzo Lawrence, LaDondee Lawrence, and LaQuata Lynch; brothers-in-law, Charlie Frazier, Demetrious Muhammad, Johnny Lawrence, Anthony Frazier, and William Frazier; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barnett, Betty Andrews, Maggie Felder, and Geraldine Lawrence; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
