Deacon Willie Taylor, Sr. Obituary

Willie Taylor, Sr., was born on May 31, 1937, in Eastover, South Carolina to the union of the late Wilbert Taylor and the late Rosa Lee Taylor.  He grew up in a naturing and loving family, which developed him into being the best son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, anyone could ask for in life.  Willie affectionately known as “Bill” received his formal education in the public schools of Lower Richland County. He was employed as a civil service worker at Fort Jackson Army base in Columbia, South Carolina as a furniture repairer/mechanic. He retired in 1993 after 38 years of service.

Willie accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with St. Matthews Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and member of the senior choir.

Willie was united in holy matrimony to the late Amy R. Taylor.

As you remember Willie in your own way, please remember Willie as a loving soul with a gentle spirit. One of the most beautiful, down to earth people who genuinely believed the saying "Family Over Everything and God first." The love he exemplified was just unexplainable. He was known to family as Mr. Fixer because he enjoyed fixing everything that needed repairing. He also enjoyed singing old gospel melodies and watching westerns.

On July 21, 2021, God decided that Willie’s work on earth was done.  Now he joins other family members who have gone on before him to be with the Lord, which includes his mother and father, wife, two brothers, five sisters, and one son.

His memories and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of his: son, Willie (Lorna) Taylor, Jr. of King George, VA; daughters, Shirley A. (Freddie) Shiver of Eastover, SC and Linda G. (George) Evans of Hephzibah, GA; sisters, Francis Bell of Eastover and Dorothy (Hector) Springer of Columbia, SC; brother, Anderson Taylor, Estill, SC; 15 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
