Time well-spent reflects a life well-lived. No empire lasts forever; no dynasty continues unbroken. Someday you and I will be mere legends. All that matters is whether we did what we could with the life that was given to us. We know when we are going to enter this world, but God didn’t give a man here on earth the power to determine when our life is going to end.
Derrick Lavon Green was born on December 1, 1961, to Elizabeth Jones and Arthur Lee Green in Brunswick, Georgia. Derrick Green received his formal education in Glynn County School System in Brunswick, Georgia. He accepted Christ as his Savior at Bethel Baptist Church at an early age and was united with Bethel Baptist Church. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and he loved basketball. Derrick Green enlisted into the United States Army. Derrick Green was blessed with a son, Kevin Youngblood Derrick Lavon Green departed this life on March 23, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Baggs; father, Arthur Lee Green; and other relatives, Patricia Baker, Robert Walker, Jr., and Arthur Lee Green, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Kevin Youngblood; sisters, Cynthia Merrell, Kathy D. West, Valarie Carter, Shirley Smith, and Vivian Smith; brother, Ronnie Green; brothers-in-law, Levi Baker and Vincent Jackson; godmother, Ms. Anna Nobles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Due to the current state of (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing; as well as attending all graveside or funeral service, either inside or outside, must wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home or any other facility at any given period during the viewing process. We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative to each of you for all acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time in their lives.
