Douglas Dutch, Sr. Obituary

My life was beautiful; for as long as it lasted, but the journey of my life has come to an end after sixty-nine years. Please find comfort in knowing that I have no regrets whatsoever. Somethings in life are impossible for mankind to fully understand. No matter how long God has entrusted our loved ones here on earth, their sudden departure is hard to understand. As a family, you must accept God’s will and abide by his holy words. The bible tells us that to be absent from the body, is to be in the presence of the Lord. In light of the sorrow in our hearts, it is with humble submission and reverence that we accept the will of God.

DOUGLAS ALLEN DUTCH was born February 15, 1954, to the late Norris and Virginia Elizabeth (Poe) Dutch in Washington, DC. He departed peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday, December 8, 2023, surrounded by family and close friends.

DOUGLAS grew up in DC and was an alumnus of Theodore Roosevelt High School (The Rough Riders). He attended American University before being introduced to the working world.

DOUGLAS accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Lutheran faith. Later in life he joined Community Baptist Church where he was baptized in the name of Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

DOUGLAS was employed by the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO), where he retired after 36 years. He worked as a bus operator for 28 years and a station manager for eight years prior to retirement. Douglas loved working with his co-workers and had a strong passion for helping the public get to and from work. During his time with METRO, he experienced many of his most cherished memories, and long-lasting friendships.

DOUGLAS was an amazing man, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His love for life was recognized and felt by many. His home served as the forefront of so many childhoods, friendships, and good times.

DOUGLAS was devoted to his family, his job, church, and those in need. He enjoyed watching movies and TV, especially the HSN Network, where he was an avid watch collector. He enjoyed fashion and jewelry because he loved the finest. He also was known to be a motorcycle enthusiast and could be found skiing all up and down the east coast with his buddy Eric Hull, who gave him his first lesson. His favorite football teams were the Michigan Wolverines and Washington Redskins which are now the Washington Commanders. DOUGLAS was known to be quiet and stayed in his lane.

On January 11, 1981, DOUGLAS was blessed with his first born, a daughter Candice Nicole Dutch Spencer. On May 26, 1984,

DOUGLAS was united in holy matrimony to Veronica Dozier Dutch. From this union, they were blessed with Douglas A. Dutch, Jr., who also shares the same birthday and a daughter Diamond Elizabeth Dutch that preceded him in death.

On December 8, 2023, God called HIS servant, DOUGLAS ALLEN DUTCH, SR. peacefully and quietly to rest from the trials and labors of this earthly life at his Bowie, Maryland home.

DOUGLAS was preceded in death by three siblings, Norris Dutch, Milton L. Dutch, Sr., and Marion Fisher.

Those left to cherish his loving memories, and his legacy are his wife, Veronica Dutch of Bowie, MD; daughter, Candice N. (Rell) Spencer of Silver Spring, MD; son, Douglas A. Dutch Jr., of Tempe, AZ; two granddaughters, Diamond E. Carter and Jordan Rose Dutch, both of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Dorris A. Dutch of Washington, DC; two brothers-in law, Reggie H. (Teresa) Dozier of Sumter, SC and Patrick R. Dozier of Crofton, MD; sister in-law, Gwendolyn N. Dozier of Manning, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched
