Whenever the time comes when we all must depart from this world, we’re never alone. God Almighty walks with us from birth, throughout our life, and into the passage of death. God will never leave us or forsake us. Eloise Elaine Massey was born on November 15, 1943, in Waverly, Georgia, Camden County. She was the oldest girl in her family, known for her spirit of helping others and her strong faith. Eloise was a loving, loyal, creative, talented, and hardworking person who was deeply devoted to her family and faith.
Eloise was not just a member of the Mt. Orum Missionary Baptist Church; she was an active participant, serving in various roles, and contributing to church events. Her dedication to her faith was unwavering and a testament to her strong character. She also took pride in her education, having been a part of the Ralph J. Bunche High School class of 1962 and later attending Daytona Community College in Daytona, Florida. Eloise’s impact extended beyond her family and career. She served as a bailiff in the Camden County Court System, a role that required dedication and a strong sense of justice. She was also a dedicated poll worker for forty-three years, which was a testament to her commitment to her civic duty. Her contributions to the community and her church will be deeply missed.
In her free time, Eloise enjoyed sewing, cooking, attending church, mentoring youth, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was also known for her prize-winning swing dancing skills, which she often showcased at family reunions. Eloise married Ezekiel G. Tate in 1961. Four children were born to this union. In 1971, she married the love of her life, Freddy Massey. One child was born to this union. They were married for 53 years until Freddy’s passing in March 2023. Eloise departed this life on May 21, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Lettie Frazier; husband, Freddy Massey; and grandson, Brandon Tate. She leaves to cherish fond memories of her life: children, Bruce B. Frazier, Ezekiel G. (Blanche) Tate, Kipp (Carolyn) Tate, Denene C. (Eddie) Poole, Heather F. Massey; stepson, Michael Sheffield; siblings, Emma Rogers, Malissa Chance, Valerie Williams, Charlie (Ella) Frazier, Joe (Inez) Frazier, Timothy (Cynthia) Frazier, and Vince (Sandra) Williams; grandchildren, Jessica Dallas, Farrell Frazier, Donte Tate, Quinton (Stephanie) Tate, Barry (Melat) Johnson, Camille Tate, Braxtin Poole, Latoya Tate, Cameron Baker, and Jasmine Reed; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Tate, Layla Tate, Cierra Tate, Mya Johnson, Christian Johnson, and Messai Johnson; God-children, Keisha Holloway, Alyssia Starke, Felecia Wrice, and Tracey Butler; adoptive Godchild, Anthony Tate; uncle, Jimmy (Ann) Frazier of Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Due to the current state of (the COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing will be asked to wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home or any other facility at any given period during the viewing process.
