Her Story of Seventy-Seven Years
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes
12:12-14
Just as the sun broke through the clouds on Friday, March 6, 2026, God reached His hand out and received His child, Geraldine Taylor Kennedy, affectionately known as “Sweetie”. She was born on August 14, 1948, to the late William and Mabel Taylor.
She was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia. After graduating from Risley High School with the great class of 1966, she attended Albany State University, where she majored in business administration. After obtaining her credentials, she relocated back to her hometown. She then began her career with Georgia Pacific and joined in holy matrimony Nathaniel Kennedy, Jr. From this union they were blessed with one daughter, Porscha Kennedy Morgan. She also worked with her family members in the family business at Royal Cleaning Services, as well as later becoming an employee of the Glynn County school system, where she impacted not only the students but coworkers just the same. She remained there until her health began to decline.
She served on various committees and was always willing to help where needed. Geraldine was not only active in her church but in the community as well. Being a member of the NAACP, Howard Coffin Park Board Member, The Democrat Party, Golden Isles Beach Combers (the first and only black bowling league in the Isles), Ocean Breeze Elks Lodge #474, and of course she became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated in March of 1984.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Nathaniel Kennedy, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Porscha Kennedy Morgan; grandchildren, Talaya and Taylor Starke; and great-grandchildren, Azjhonti “AJ” and Jayce. Although she was an only child Geraldine had many “sisters” and a host of cousins, godchildren, and close friends.
