HELEN TAYLOR was born June 25, 1942, in Elloree, South Carolina, to Dennis and Pearline Moorer. Helen and Elmore met in Jacksonville, Florida. They later relocated to New York and began residing in Long Island, N. Y. Helen and Elmore was inseparable for over sixty years.
She and Elmore's union produced six children: Reggie, Charles, Patricia, Elmore, Jr., Jackie and Taneka. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and auntie. Helen was a hard worker. She worked as a beautician, school bus driver, United States Postal Service Worker, and drove for Marta in ATL for several years. But the best job was as a salesperson at Taylor's Furniture, which was owned by her and Elmore. In August of 1983, Helen was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and served faithfully until her passing.
Helen loved fashion for herself and her family. She kept herself and the family well-groomed, dressed and taken care of. Helen's gentle and loving spirit will be missed by many.
Helen was preceded in death by loving parents, Dennis Sr. and Pearline Moorer. She was also preceded in death by two children, Reginald Coleman and Patricia Garbutt; along with seven siblings, Roberta Wilson, Rebecca Cantidate, Mary Lee Mitchell, Lilly Mae Haigler, Dennis Moorer, Jr., Willie Clay Moorer and Shelly Rivers.
Helen leaves behind her loving husband Elmore; daughters, Jackie and Taneka; sons, Elmore, Jr., and Charles; sons-in-law; Michael and Lynford; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ida, Inez, and Marie; brothers-in-law, Marvis and Milton; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
