James Baker, Jr., was born on November 6, 1952, to the late James and Earlee Baker, Sr. He received his formal education at Ralph Bunche in Woodbine, Georgia. James Baker, Jr., accepted Christ as his Savior and was united with First United Baptist Church. James Baker, Jr., was united in holy matrimony to Wonell Carreker in Brunswick, Georgia. In his leisure time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, sports, especially Super Bowl games, and eating low country boils. He was employed at Brunswick Cellulose as a warehouse loader for 34 years.
God decided that it was time to bring his child home to get his reward on September 12, 2022. James was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Glenda Baker, one son, Shaun Eric Baker, and one brother, Greg Baker.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Wonell Baker; children, Phillip (Phyllis) Plyes, Gregory Adams, both of Waverly, GA, Gerald (Susan) Baker of Brunswick, GA, Khrystion FuQua’ of California, Yahmeschico (James) Owens of New York, Jamie (Terence) Thomas of Atlanta, GA, LaShonda Baker of Brunswick, GA, and Jacara Baker of Augusta, GA; extended family-in-love, Tonia (Luster) Montgomery of Atlanta, GA, Amy Brown, Grayling Carreker, LaQuambia Cliette, James Tyler of Brunswick, GA, and Tyrome Green of Brunswick, GA; sister, Glade Sallis of Darien, GA; three brothers, Joe Baker, Dennis(Carolyn) Baker of Waverly, GA, and Clyde (Paulette) Baker of Florida; and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the current state of (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing; as well as attending all graveside or funeral service, either inside or outside, must wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home or any other facility at any given period during the viewing process. We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative to each of you for all acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time in their lives.
