Wherever we go, from our birth throughout our life and into the passage of death, the Lord is always and ever with us. When the time comes to bid this life farewell, we should find comfort in knowing that a loving God will be there to guide us to our new home.
James Earl Carter was born on May 9, 1964, and was raised by Ernestine and Willie Mays in Portsmouth, Virginia. James received his formal education in the Glynn County School System in Brunswick, Georgia. He received his high school diploma in 1983 from Brunswick High School.
He was a follower of Jesus Christ. In his leisure, he enjoyed watching football and spending time with family and friends. He was employed by The Echo Restaurant at the King and Prince Resort and Tavola Restaurant at the Sea Island Resort on the wait staff for a number of years.
James Earl Carter departed this life on August 24, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Mays; father, Willie Mays; and sister, Cheryl Chappell.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his brother, Phillip (Ophelia) Mays; stepdaughter, Jalicka Gasque; stepsons, Jared and Jarod Gasque; special friend, Carla Carter; loving cousin, Patricia (Lewis) Davis; and a host of nephews and very close friends.
