God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes, and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.” The weary house, the days of pain, the sleepless nights past. The ever present worn out frame has found sweet rest at last.
James “JP” Patterson, Jr. was born on September 12, 1942 to Eula Mitchell and James Patterson, Sr., in Dawson, Georgia.
James received his formal education at Risley High School in Brunswick, Georgia.
James accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with Emmanuel Baptist Church of St. Simons Island, Georgia.
In his leisure, he enjoyed reading, fishing, watching football, and golf. He also enjoyed playing dominos and was always ready for a game of cards.
He worked in construction and worked for Seaboard Construction.
James departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Eula Mitchell and James Patterson, Sr.; one daughter, Brenda Patterson; two sisters, Anna Batson and Rose Jacobs.
He leaves to cherish his memories: seven children, Sharon Patterson of Midway, GA, Carolyn Patterson and Rodney Roberts ( Latrice) all of Brunswick, GA, Vincent Patterson (Shonda) of St. Petersburg, FL, Vincent Wynn of Brunswick, GA, James Patterson III of LaVergne, TN, Marlon Patterson (Cadre) of Snellville, GA; four sisters, Rena Woods of Brunswick, GA, Mary Jackson, Ruby Patterson of Tifton, GA, Annie Singleton (Bobby) of TyTy, GA.; devoted friend, Bernice Davis of Brunswick, GA; 16 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Due to the current state of (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, as ordered by the Governor for the State of Georgia, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing; as well as attending all graveside services must wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home at any given period during the viewing process. We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative to each of you for your prayers and considerations during this difficult time in their lives.
