James Author Simmons was born on December 11, 1959, to the late Joseph Bennett, Jr., and Betty Simmons in Jesup, Georgia. James received his formal education in Wayne County School System in Jesup, Georgia.
James accepted Christ as his Savior in the 1970s at the age of eighteen. In his leisure, he enjoyed riding his bicycle, listening to music, and being with friends.
He was employed by Medical Arts Nursing Facility in Brunswick, Georgia, as a Certified Nursing Assistant for ten years.
James A. Simmons departed this life on October 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Bennett, Jr., and Betty Simmons; sister, Cheryl Bennett; brother, Butch Bennett; and aunt, Myrtice Core.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his one daughter, Sabrina Johnson; one son, Caesar (Rebecca) Banks; three grandchildren, Sarynity Davis, Semaj Davis, and King Banks; six sisters, Lutricia Brown, Patricia Rogers, Lillie Ann Bennett, Elaine Jackson, Joann Mullens, and Joyce (Anthony) Brown; two brothers, Lorenzo (Barbara) Bennett and Mitchell Simmons; special friend, James McKnight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
