James White I Obituary

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” – II Corinthians 5:8

As you celebrate the end of my life’s journey, I pray that each of you will find comfort in knowing that I was growing tired of the trials and tribulations of this world. I’ve lived an exciting and full life during my seventy-six years on Earth, so I welcomed my departure from this world. I lived the three scores and ten that God promised to me, so please don’t worry about me. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding take away all tears. I don’t want my exit from this life to be painful for any of my family and friends.

James Scotia White I was born on February 5, 1948, to Scotia Mack White and Ruthie Mae Alvin-White in Brunswick, GA. James received his formal education at Risley High School in Brunswick, GA. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with St. Paul Baptist Church in Saint Simons Island, Georgia.

After high school, James enlisted into the United States Army on October 15, 1968. He was honorably discharged on January 31, 1972. He had a special love for people, but the highlight of his existence was being outdoors and cooking. If you wanted to see him smiling, you knew that he had some peanut brittle candy and Asian fried rice. He was employed by International
Longshoremen’s Association Union Local 1423 as a dock worker until his retirement.

James Scotia White I was united in holy matrimony with Victoria Fleming on April 6, 2005.

God saw his child’s struggles and pain, so he sent his angels to Savannah, GA, to reclaim his gift to this world on November 4, 2024. Waiting to welcome his spirit home are his parents, Scotia Mack and Ruthie Mae Alvin-White; first wife, Cynthia Dorch White; son, Kenneth Grady; grandchild, Nautica White; and two great-grandchildren, Kay’Jun White and Ay’Jun White.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Victoria F. White; children, James Scotia (Camille) White II, LaJuana (Wiliam) Delaney, and Allen Dewayne White; stepchildren, Jerome (Diana) Fleming, Frederick (Shannon) Walker, Charles (Janice) Walker, Rhimmington (Suzan) Walker, Ricky (Patricia) Walker, Althia McGarrah, and Althea Edwards; grandchildren, Derrick Grady, Michael C. White, Denzell Nobles, Kai J. White, Ariana C. White, Liam Delaney, Charles J. Knight, Jaiden Mells and Amelia Knight; great-grandchildren, Lei Lora White, Malikai J. White, Abiona Grady, Aniyan McMiller, Adaysia Harris, Rylan Butler, and Masi Grady; and host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
