“Blessed is He who has believed that the Lord would keep his promises to him.”
As each of you gather in the spirit of celebration to honor my life on earth, remember to give my Heavenly all the praises and honor, because he allowed me to live the three scores and ten that he promised to all mankind in the Bible. I am at peace, and my soul is at rest. Your hearts are heavy, but you must accept God’s will and honor him for the beautiful years He allowed me to remain here on Earth.
God, who is the giver of life, gave this beautiful spirit to Samuel and Ophelia Williams in Brunswick, Georgia, on October 12, 1948. The family felt extremely blessed, and they named him James Edward Williams.
James Edward Williams received his formal education at Risley High School in Brunswick, Georgia. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Later, he became a member of the American Legion Post 507, Brunswick, GA. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with Emanuel Baptist Church where he worshipped his entire life. He loved his church, so when he wasn’t attending church, he enjoyed cleaning yards and helping people out who needed it. He always knew that his purpose on earth was to be a blessing to others. The highlight of his existence was spending time with family and loving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life. His favorite colors were maroon and gold because of his love for Risley High School. He was employed by Georgia Pacific Pulp and Paper as a Machine Operator M.5 until January of 2000.
God, in His glorious power and infinite wisdom, dispatched His heavenly angels on October 4, 2025, to return his gentle giant home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ophelia Williams and Samuel Williams; brothers, Randolph Williams, Alvin Jones, Samuel Williams, Jr., Jonathan Williams, and Charles Williams; sister, Julia Williams; grandson, Paul E. Ramsey III; and great-granddaughter, Nova Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy: his sons, Jamichael Williams of Jacksonville, FL, and Jacoma Montford of Brunswick, GA; daughters, Anna Williams, Kim Williams, Jenell Williams, all of Brunswick, GA, and Shankia Montford of Atlanta, GA; brother, Michael Williams of New Jersey; sisters, Margaret Massey, Frances Mercer, and Betty (Donnie) Mullino, all of Brunswick, GA; grandchildren, LaShawn Williams, D’Andre Carroll, Dayja Carroll, Jabori Williams, Jashad Williams, Xavier Ramsey, Miracle Tyson, and Deshawn (Parker) Williams; great-grandchildren, Shakih Abdussamee, Shakur Abdussamee, De’Ivory Carroll, Don’dre Carroll, Dalilah Carroll, Sienna Williams, Ja’Tayla Williams, Zah’Kari Williams, Blessyn Williams, and Daniel Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
