Janice Lawrence Obituary

I am confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from this body, and to be present with the lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)

I did not want to leave you all because I loved each of you in my own special way, but when God heard my secret cry, his death angels came to take me home. I welcomed my departure from this land because this world was never meant to be my permanent home. There was peace and serenity on this journey. My journey through this life is over, but my true journey has just begun! Don't cry for me, but rejoice instead because I am now free and resting in my new home.

JANICE LAWRENCE was born on February 22, 1945, to the late Ethel Lee and the late George Davis in Brunswick, Georgia. She received her formal education at Risley High School in Brunswick, Georgia. Janice Lawrence accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 19 and was united with St. Andrews Church.

When a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing. Janice Davis was united in holy matrimony with Matthew Lawrence in Brunswick, Georgia.

Although preparing to meet her Savior was the focal point of her life, Janice enjoyed gardening, taking care of her pets, praising God, singing, talking on the phone, and cooking. Her favorite colors were lavender and purple.

I fought a good fight, my race of life has been finished, and I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I kept the faith until the end. I left this earth knowing there was a crown of righteousness waiting for not only me, but to all of you who long to meet the risen Savior. Jancie Lawrence departed this life on July 9, 2025.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Johnny (Andrea) Pitts, Edward Pitts and Geoffrey Pitts; daughter, Phyllis Pitts; grandchildren, Tamekia Ellison, Tia Ellison, Asjanay Pitts, D’Angleo Pitts, Eric Pitts, Tobiasz Hose; Joe Jones, Lashawn Martre, Janisha Wilkerson, Jaquetta Wilkerson, Tamelia Pitts, Tamaya Pitts, Ayonna Blaine and De’monte Pitts; sister, Marie Isaac; brother, Calvin Davis; and host of other relatives and friends
