Obituary

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4

Wherever we go, from our birth throughout our life and into the passage of death, the Lord is always and ever with us. When the time comes to bid this life farewell, we should find comfort in knowing that a loving God will be there with us to guide us to our new home.

As we gather in the spirit of celebration, to honor the life of a well-loved member of the Culbreath family; our hearts are heavy, but we must accept God’s will and honor him for Johnny Lester’s sixty-nine beautiful years, that our loved one remained on earth. The Lord can and will heal the poor in spirit and the brokenhearted.

Johnny Lester Culbreath was born on September 19, 1953, to James and Ola Mae Culbreath in Brunswick, Georgia. He was a graduate and lifelong associate of the esteemed Brunswick High School class of 1972. He was a committed believer and accepted Christ as his Savior early on in his life and was a faithful member of First Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brunswick, Georgia.

He was married to Geraldine Chapman-Culbreath up until her untimely passing in 2016.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, fishing, singing, dancing, arguing, and having a good time with family and friends. He was often at the center of gatherings at Seldon Park and would often have cookouts at the corner store on L Street. Bossey was truly a man of many talents and even more a man of great faith. He was also a loyal fan of the Brunswick High Pirates, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks and Georgia Bulldogs.

Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating and proudly served his country during the Vietnam conflict. A highly skilled and certified welder, he was employed by the Sea Island Company for many years up until his retirement in the 2010’s. He was a member of Keystone Lodge #98.
