Jonathan Powell Obituary

It is with a shout of joy and a grateful heart that I say “see you in the morning” to all those I leave behind! For I knew that if this old earthly body gave out, that I had a building from God, eternal in the Heavens, not made by man's hands. I have overcome the world because my faith did not stand in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God. Thank you, Father, that by your stripes I am healed.

My life began in Brunswick, Georgia on June 25, 1982, when God gifted a beautiful bundle of joy to the late Sarah Anderson and the late Joseph Powell in Brunswick, Georgia. My parents named their blessing Jonathan Josiah Powell, but I was affectionately known to my family and friends as “Loose Cannon”.

I always knew that education would be the key to a successful life, so I was educated in the Glynn County Public School System.  I attended Brunswick High School in Brunswick, GA.

Serving God and others is not about doing great things but about doing small things with great love. Jonathan accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with Johnson Temple which provided him with a strong love for serving God. “To know him was to love him.” He was popular from his youth and found that people were naturally attracted to him. He enjoyed loud music and bright colors. He was employed by Lucke Furniture as a delivery driver for a number of years.

No man knows the time of day when their earthy days are over. Jonathan departed this life on January 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother Sarah Anderson; father, Joseph Powell; brother, Kevin Anderson; two sisters, Alicia Nixon and Alenia Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Trequez Davis and Romel Powell; significant other, Takisha Green; four brothers, Eugene Anderson, Santwan Powell, Twan Hughes, and Rico Nixon; three sisters, Candance Lewis, Priscilla Powell and Kayrhonda Robinson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
