Kathleen Sheffield Obituary

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.   2 Corinthians 5:8

A special thanks to each of you for gathering here today, not to recognize what is the ending of an earthly life, but to celebrate the beginning of my promised everlasting life.

Kathy Genell Sheffield was born on January 8, 1960, to the union of Peter T. and Mamie Sheffield in Brunswick, Georgia. She received her formal education in the Glynn County Public School System and attended Brunswick High School, Brunswick, Georgia.

There were so many things that Kathy enjoyed doing, but because of her relationship with the Lord, she loved to visit different churches. She loved the Lord and loved listening to her gospel music while cleaning. In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandson (Poppa), sitting on her porch enjoying her sisters and other family and friends. Kathleen was a very stern woman who meant what she said and said what she meant. She meant well with a heart of gold. She loved watching “Chrisley Knows Best”, cooking, baking sweet potato pies and crocheting. She loved her family dearly. Kathleen was formerly employed by Holiday Inn and Suites in housekeeping until she decided to retire early.

On June 25, 2021, God decided that Kathleen’s work on earth was done. She was preceded in death by father, Peter T. Sheffield and her mother, Mamie Lou Sheffield.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Takia Sheffield (Renzo); only grandson, who she loved dearly, Kenzo (Poppa); four sisters, May, Mechell, Viola, Ewana (Gary); wonderful nieces, Tamika, Laquita, Shaneka and Latrice; nephews, Ronald, Jason, Alvin (Bubba), Clifton, Charles and Brian; a special nephew, Jason (Rita), who was a son she never had; a wonder niece she raised as her own, Shaneka; one beautiful god-daughter, Rodnesia Adams; one god-son, Jerell Williams; her aunts she loved very dearly, Essie Sheffield and Ruth Johnson; a host of grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
