Obituary

To my loved ones that I am leaving behind, remember that the love we share is forever etched in your hearts. May you find peace in knowing that my love will continue to guide you through life.
Although I am no longer with you physically, my spirit lives on with you in every cherished memory. May these memories bring you strength during this difficult time.

Mrs. Katie Viola Ozell Crooks was born January 9, 1941, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Nathaniel Ozell, Sr., and Mrs. Ruth B. (Ozell) Cohen. She accepted faith in Christ and was baptized at
Carteret Church of Christ. She was joined in holy matrimony to Johnnie Will Crooks, Jr., for forty-seven years. To this union, six children were born. She retired from the Glynn County School’s Department of Transportation. She was a friend, a sister, a wife, and a devoted mother. Katie had a fun-loving spirit and a heart of gold. If you were in need, Katie was always there to comfort you, to give you sound advice, and help you in so many ways.

Mr. Katie Viola Ozell Crooks departed this life on September 8, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Johnnie Will Crooks III; daughter, Cheryl Crooks Woodard; son-in-law,
Adell Woodard; sisters, Lucy R. Harris and Rebecca R. Ozell Styles; brothers, Nathaniel Ozell, Jr., and Harold Ozell; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Crooks, Fredia Mae Ozell, and Minnie Nelson; and brothers-in-law, David L. Crooks, Cornell Crooks, and Paul Nelson,.

Although she has been called from labor to eternal rest, we are sure that she has found peace, favor, and acceptance with her maker. She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted sons, Marvin
A. (Eloise) Crooks, Sr., of Louisville, KY, and Michael R. Crooks of Brunswick, GA; devoted daughters, Patrice L. Crooks (Calvin) Bradley and Carol D. Crooks (David) McCaster; a daughter-in-
love, Michelle Johnson Bristol; a son in love, Walter Johnson, Jr.; brother, Emanuel Ozell of Brunswick, GA; sister-in-law, Clara Jones of Greenbelt, MD; brother-in-law, Irving (Maria) Crooks
of Brunswick, GA; special niece, Laura (Norris) Taylor; special cousins, Evangelist Ann (Glen) King and Marva (William) Abery; her lovable pets, Marlee, Precious, Crystal, Bailey, and Sasha; and
a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
