Laura Sams Obituary

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelations 21:4

I did not want to leave you all because I have loved each of you in my own special way; but when God heard my secret cries, His death angels came to take me home. After seventy-six years of life, I welcomed my departure from this land because earth was never my permanent home. There was peace, joy, and serenity on this journey. My journey through this life is over, but my true journey has just begun! Don't cry for me but rejoice instead because I am now free and resting in my new home.

Laura Louise Sams was born on Saturday, May 8, 1948, to James and Mildred B. Williams in Brunswick, Georgia.

Laura graduated from high school in 1966 from the historical Risley High in Brunswick, GA where she was heavily involved with her class. She was in the school’s chorus, glee club, Honor Society, Future Teachers of America (F.T.A.) and Math Club. She furthered her education at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Laura later completed a master’s degree in education from American InterContinental University.

During Laura’s marriage to Harold Sams, they were blessed with one child, Sherie Laurice.

In her leisure, she enjoyed crocheting. She would crochet throughout the year and donate the hats and scarves she completed to charity before the beginning of the cold season. Laura would also gift family and close friends with her creations. During younger years, Laura enjoyed playing her piano and would challenge her skills with new sheet music. She spent many years in the customer relations field for various companies and was also an instructor at South Georgia College in Valdosta, GA.

God sent his angels on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to reclaim his amazing daughter. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mildred B.  and James Williams both of Brunswick, GA; sister, Maggie Sheppard of St. Petersburg, FL; and brother, Warren Williams of Atlanta, GA.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Sherie (Dexter) Wallace of Bonaire, GA; siblings, Edward and Cassie Williams both of Brunswick, GA, and Eric Williams of Powder Springs, GA; sister-in-law, Patricia Taylor of Riverdale, GA and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
