“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” – Ecclesiastes 12:7
In life, a person must travel many paths. Some of these paths are called trials and tribulations. These paths are designed to teach many valuable lessons and to prepare us for our final resting place. The paths that I took during my sixty-seven years on earth afforded me the opportunity to meet many wonderful individuals. To my family and friends, I have come to the end of my journey, never to tread through this life here on earth again, and the only thing that I took on this journey was the love I have in my heart for each of you. Don’t worry about me because God has set me free. Let your minds wonder the path of remembrance, reliving the joy, and good times we had. When tomorrow starts without me do not think we’re apart. Each and every time you think of me, I want each of you to remember that I will always remain in your heart.
My path in life began in a small town located on the east coast of Georgia known as St. Simons Island. On November 3, 1956, our Heavenly father blessed my parents, Charles and Ethel Anderson Floyd, with a son they agreed to name Leslie. What a remarkable name I received from my parents. I always cherished and honored this name until my death. Education during the era of time in which I lived was very important. I was fortunate to be educated in the Glynn County public school system and to attend the famous Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia.
In my leisure, I enjoyed cooking and working on different projects around the house and yard. I was the type of individual who loved working with my hands and creating things. I was always a people’s person, and I wanted to use all of my blessings for the purpose of helping others. I was employed by Fending Tire and Poster Company and the Glynn County Georgia Wastewater Treatment Plant as a Septic Operator for a total of 24 years.
Time stood still, my name was called, and I stepped on board that Old Ship of Zion. I bided the cares of this world farewell on September 9, 2024. I was preceded in death by my parents, Charles and Ethel Floyd; son, Leslie Floyd Wilcher; and brother, Alford Floyd.
I leave to cherish my memories: my one daughter, Christina (Aswan) Barber; two sisters, Virginia Floyd and Charlesetta (Joe) Cross; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Charles Grovernor and Mike; and other relatives and friends.
