Louise Massey Sheffield, born to Josiah Massey and Emily Atkinson, in Springbluff, GA on August 16, 1928, lived 95 years of a life nothing short of love, strength and compassion. Although stitched from the very fabric that lines us all, she set herself apart. For those that knew her, she enjoyed her life unapologetically, and shared in her love and enjoyment in ways only angels are accustomed to.
In 1949, she moved to New Jersey for a short period of time until her return to Springbluff in 1952. She remained in Springbluff until her retirement from King Shrimp in 1989, when she set roots in Miami, Florida with her only daughter. She resided in South Florida for eleven years, where she watched over two of her grandsons. Returned to her home in Springbluff in 2001, Louise led a peaceful life, enjoying the simplicities of gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends as well as her heavenly father. She enjoyed going to church and listening to gospel music.
Opening her home, family and heart to those in need, Louise served her community in ways that proved her to be truly selfless in nature. The seventh of nine siblings, she is preceded in death by John Samuel, Elizabeth Baskins (Charles), Rossie (Fretta), Josiah, Hezekiah, Edna and Freddy Massey. Left to cherish her sisterhood are her sisters-in-law, Lucille (HezekiaH0 and Eloise Massey (Freddy). She mothered six children, Lorenzo Evans (Janice), Springbluff, GA; Carlton Massey, Springbluff, GA; Thurman Massey (Carolyn), Brunswick, GA; Leandus Massey (Marjon), Peachtree City, GA; Veronica Williams Tillie (William), Miramar, FL; and Willie Sheffield (LaTonya), White Oak, GA; and stepdaughter, Mary Brown, Brunswick, GA. Additionally she leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
