Lula Mincey Obituary

On April 27, 1953, Lula Burton Mincey, was born in Louisville, Georgia to the late Henrietta Gibbons Maxwell and David Burton. In 1958, Lula moved to Brunswick, Georgia where she received her education. She graduated from Brunswick High School with the class of 1971. Lula was employed by Sea Island Company for 25 years.

Later, Lula met Ernest Brisbon and a child was born from the union, Alzatia. She later married Lewis Mincey and from this union Shantel was born. Lula was a faithful Christian who had a bright, caring spirit for everyone she was around. She believed in God above all things. She loved her family deeply. The love they had for each other was an unconditional love. Lula, her daughter and granddaughter joined Bay Harbour Church of God where she served 9 years.

Since her illness in 2013, her daughter Alzatia, and granddaughter Serena served as her caretakers up until the time God called her home.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two loving daughters: Alzatia Clark (Nathaniel), Shantel Wilcox (Christopher); her grandchildren: Serena McClain, Christopher II (Whitney), Mehkya and Abijah Wilcox. Two great-granddaughters: Alyssa and Ariah. Her brothers, Willie Burton (Cynthia) and Darryl Maxwell all of Brunswick, Ga. Moses Brown of Louisville, Ga. and two brothers Edgar Burton and Robert Maxwell who preceded her in death. Her aunt Anna Gibbons, Atlanta, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. Her special friends Ann Cash, Carol Clinch and Vernella Mitchell.
