Mary Ogden Obituary

Every gift that comes from God has purpose, beauty, and love to share with the world. On June 23, 1950, in Ludowici, Georgia, God gave York and Luvenia Presley an amazing, gifted individual that they named Mary Louise Presley. Her family and friends knew that she was special because from childhood to death, she was an amazing and positive individual who loved to entertain friends and family with her animated accounts of events. Her intelligence, caring nature, and undeniable sense of humor made all that knew her, love her. She was affectionately known to many of her family members and friends as “Tootie”. She received her formal education at Wayne County High School in Jesup, Georgia. She later became a paraprofessional and worked at the elementary and high school in Baxley, Georgia. Mary accepted Christ as her Savior and was united with Holy Band of Inspiration where she was an active member until she became immobile. Mary L. Presley was united in holy matrimony with Joseph E. Ogden, Sr., on November 10, 1969, in Jesup, Georgia. Their union was blessed with three children: Gwendolyn Greatheart, Deborah Friskey, and Joseph E. Ogden, Jr. In her leisure, she enjoyed event planning, floral design, jewelry making, fashion designing, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. When she became immobile, “Facebook” became a means of staying in touch with friends and family.

God saw my struggles and pain, so He sent His angels on September 11, 2024, to reclaim His gift to this world. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, York and Luvenia Presley; and sister, Francis Beard.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Joseph E. Ogden, Sr.; daughters, Gwendolyn Greatheart, and Deborah (Johnny) Friskey; son, Joseph E. Ogden, Jr.; grandchildren, Candace (Greg) Walker, Jasmine (Shannon) Billiue, Diamond Ogden Taylor, Mary “Abbie” Ogden, Joseph Whisnant, Jalen Ogden, Jordan Ogden; great-grandchildren, Tyler Greatheart, Genia Billiue, Arianna Billiue, Aaliyah Taylor; one sister, Alice (James) Wooten; a host of other family members and friends.
