On March 29, 1984, the world was graced with the presence of Maurice Shawn Abbott, Jr. He was born in Brunswick, Georgia. Maurice received his formal education in the Glynn County School System, Brunswick, Georgia. He furthered his education at Coastal Community College in Brunswick, Georgia and Armstrong University in Savannah, Georgia, and later because an educator.
Maurice Abbott, Jr. accepted Christ as his Savior at Revival Center Church at an early age and was united with Revival Center Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher.
In his leisure, he enjoyed worshiping the Lord, spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He also adored his canine companion Elijah, teaching, and being a viral inspirational speaker. He was employed by Georgia Cyber Academy as a Teacher for 1 & 1/2 years. Maurice was a member of the Glynn County Prayer Group.
Maurice Shawn Abbott, Jr., departed this life on January 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Barbara Bizzle; great grandparents, Iona and Adam Ramsey; and several aunts and uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Lisa Wilson (Henry); father, Maurice S. Abbott, Sr.; siblings, Ashley Johnson (James), Diane Green (Rodney), James Ramsey (Wendy), Eugene Ross (Violet), Darien Ravenell and Travis Ravenell; grandmother, Rena Woods; grandfather, Tony Abbott; two aunts, Carolyn Hines (Nelson) and Deborah Staten (Qiana); two uncles, Alan Ramsey (Maureen) and Donald Patterson; honorary sibling, Amber Staten; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Due to the current state of (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to promote social distancing, anyone entering the funeral home for viewing; as well as attending all graveside or funeral service, either inside or outside, must wear a mask. We will also limit the number of persons allowed to enter the funeral home or any other facility at any given period during the viewing process. We ask that you leave the premise upon exiting the building. The family is most appreciative to each of you for all acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time in their lives.
