Michael McElveen Obituary

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

As we come together to celebrate the life of Michael Jermaine McElveen our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandchild, uncle or whatever he might have been to you, in your hearts. We know he will be missed. Michael demonstrated, revealed, exhibited and displayed love to everyone who encountered him. Michael Jermaine McElveen was born on July 20, 1985, to Charles McElveen, Sr., and Penny Matilda Conner McElveen in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He received his formal education at Margate Elementary School, Margate Middle School, and Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida. He furthered his education at several different colleges, technical schools, and trade schools before attending Broward Community College in Pompano Beach, Florida. He later became a man with many different trades and skills.

Michael McElveen accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at Worldwide Christian Center at the age of ten years old and was united with Divine Praise Ministry Church, where he served as a choir member, usher, T. Fast member, and whatever the church needed him to do. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, football, basketball, spending time with family, taking things apart and putting them back together and helping people.

At the age of twelve, Michael was introduced to concrete work. After finishing high school, he started working for Flexso Packaging Corporation in Pompano Beach, Florida. He went to massage therapist school and got his HVAC certification. Michael became a Comcast cableman and later became a lice tech, running a lice clinic for a season. Michael survived a light aneurysm and then he came to South Carolina to heal. After returning to Pompano Beach, Florida, he went back to work too soon. For Michael, it was all work and little sleep.

Michael slipped into a coma in September 21, 2024. God kept him until, he was finished with him on August 16, 2025. We pray that Michael got a seat on the right hand of Jesus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Penny Matlida Conner McElveen; sister, Latara Denise Conner; grandfather, James Conner; aunts, Gloria Joyce McElveen, Virginia Ray Oliver, Jane Rena Mae McElveen and Marsha Cookie McElveen; uncles, Felton McElveen, Jr., James McElveen and Reverend John (Johnny) Johnson; and grandparents, Felton McElveen, Sr., and Mary Jane Nowlin McElveen.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Reverend Charles McElveen, Sr.; brothers, Charles McElveen, Jr., Alexander T. McElveen, Timothy Brown and Matthew Hepburn; sisters, Kellisa Y. McElveen, Nicole Robinson, Shatara Brown, Jimesha Smith, Aaliyah Robinson and Alexia T. McElveen; nieces, Alecia McElveen and Aaliyah Robinson; nephews, Charles McElveen III and Jaylen R. Ford; grandmother, Edith Mae Conner; aunts, Julia Ann McElveen (Ralph) Fulmore and Angela McElveen Steward; uncles, Leroy L. (Barbara) McElveen, Joseph (Gloria) McElveen, Billy McElveen, Leon Williams and James Allen Conner; great-aunt, Shirley McElveen; a host of godchildren, cousins, and friends.

May the Grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit abide in us now and forever more.
