Mother Daisy Walton Obituary

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they might be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.       Psalms 90:10

On Wednesday morning, February 24, 2021, the Lord called one of his very own to be with him in the home that he has prepared for her in Heaven.

Daisy Williams Walton was the oldest daughter of the late Nathan Williams and the late Rebecca Williams. This adorable gift was given to her parents on July 14, 1928 in Waverly, Georgia.  She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined Calvary Baptist Church, where she was baptized by Rev. Mack Mitchell. After moving back from Miami, Florida, she joined First Bryant Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. J.F. Mann, this was the family church. She later joined the First United Christian Church, under the auspice of Bishop T. L. Benton. She loved her church family.

Daisy attended the colored public school of Glynn County.  Daisy was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Allen Walton in Newark, New Jersey in 1954. Later in life, the marriage ended. She worked and retired from Glynn Memorial Hospital. She loved her family out in San Diego, CA, where she visited her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Daisy moved to Smithville, Texas with her beloved daughter Ramona and son-in-law, Mitchell for over ten years ago. She attended Smithville Church of Christ faithfully. Her church family loved her so much, they called her “Mother.” Daisy was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grand mother, aunt, cousin, and sister in Christ. Daisy had a wonderful life of longevity. She is going to be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Rebecca Williams, sisters: Louise, Laura Bell, Maudell (Money), brothers: Raymond (Butch) and Albert Williams, granddaughter: Winifred Winfrey (Princess) San Diego, CA.

She leaves to cherish her memories: A loving and devoted daughter, Ramona Brown (Mitchell) of Smithville, TX; four sisters, Catherine Lewis (Melvin), Lillie Beckham, Gloria Wilson (Jackie), Shirley Williams (Eddie) all of Brunswick, GA; one brother, Leroy Johnson of Brunswick, GA; sister-in-law, Mavis Williams of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Charles Angelo Walker (Selena) of Jacksonville, FL, Ramona Grant, Regina Snowden (Robert) of San Diego, CA, Charles Pierre Whitehead, of Abilene, TX; 10 great grandchildren; 23 great great grandchildren; 2 great great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
