A bright and shining light from our world is gone, a voice we love is stilled. A place is vacant in our life that can never be filled. A page has been turned; the chapter of my life is now completed. As you celebrate the final chapter of my life, please remember the battle I fought to remain on earth with each of you. I lived all of the years that God said his people would live; three scores and ten, so don’t worry about me. I have gone to be with other loved ones that have gone before me.
Naomi Drayton was born on April 21, 1953, to Catherine Mannings and Clinton Stephens in Brunswick, Georgia. She was educated in the Glynn County public school system.
In her leisure, she enjoyed being around family, playing spades, working, and Beer 30. She was employed by Krystals as a cook for twenty-five years before retiring in 2023.
No man knows the time of day when their earthly days are over. Naomi Drayton departed this life on July 15, 2025. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, twin sister Ruth Buggs, Queen (Aaron) Baker, and Louise Barnes; and four brothers, Aurthur Bess, Eddie Bess, Clinton Stephens, Jr., and Teddy Bess.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her two sisters, Earline (Berthony) Desameau and Catherine (John) Melvin; niece who was like her daughter, Cynthia (Juan) Calhoun; Cynthia’s children, Shamario Foster and Shawniqua Harper; very special family friend, Hazel Etheredge; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
