Norma Marion Obituary

Norma Jean Atkinson Marion was born on October 11, 1951, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Haize and Pennie Atkinson. She attended school in Brunswick, Georgia, and graduated from Risley High School in 1970. Norma Jean was employed by Sea Island Corp. for a short time during her young adult life. She was inspired to organize and operate her own business as a successful entrepreneur, Marion’s Cleaning Service. During this time, she acquired many influential and exceptional clients. She gained the trust, love, and respect of her clients over many years. Norma Jean loved her work, family, and friends.

She accepted Christ at a young age. She became a member of First Jordan Grove Baptist Church. Norma was a devoted and loving Christian. She served as the financial secretary for First Jordan Grove Baptist Church for several years. Norma Jean attended the local college where she studied recordkeeping. She received Georgia certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant in 2003. She served as the administrator of her parents’ estate for 24 years.

Norma Jean was married to Isiah Marion, Jr., in 1970, a well-known citizen of Brunswick and a retired employee of Sea Island Corp for 36 years. He preceded her in death in 2017. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Evelyn L. Beckham, Katie B. Atkinson, Violet A. McCoy, Pricilla A. Atkinson, and Jacquelyn A. Jackson.

Norma Jean leaves to mourn her passing a loving family: daughter, Stacie Marion of Brunswick, GA; son, Adrian Marion (Andrea) of Richmond Hill, GA; three granddaughters, Markeita Parks, Tashay Lee, and Adrianne Marion; two step-granddaughters, Mackenzie Towns and Ashtyn Towns; two grandsons, Marcellus Marion, and Micah Jacobs; four great-grandsons, Zamarion Williams, Zion Williams, Zaden Parks, and Zamir Parks; one great-granddaughter, Zailey Williams; one sister, Marie A. Washington of Apopka, FL; two brothers, Charles H. Atkinson, Brunswick, GA, and Alphonso J. Atkinson (Cynthia) of Decatur, GA; mother-in-law, Beatrice Marion; two sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; devoted friends and clients, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kilgore of St. Simons Island GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
