Priscilla Reed Obituary

Eighty-One Beautiful Years

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — II Timothy 4:7

PRISCILLA GADSON REED was born August 6, 1944, to the late Bessie Gadson and Stephen Wilson in Garnett, South Carolina. She received her education in the public schools of Hampton County. Priscilla later married, and this union was blessed with seven beautiful children. In her early adult years, Priscilla relocated to Stamford, Connecticut, where she worked for the Clairol industry. She eventually made Savannah, Georgia her home, where she faithfully worked for the Smith family for over 21 years until her retirement.

Priscilla dedicated herself fully to the work of the Lord. As a devoted missionary at Kingdom Touch Ministries, Ridgeland, South Carolina, she served faithfully and joyfully. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a sincere prayer, or share a word of encouragement. Her ministry extended far beyond the church walls; she embodied the love of Christ in her home and everywhere God placed her. Whether comforting the brokenhearted or lifting others with prayers and kind words, Priscilla lived the gospel daily. She enjoyed laughing, cooking, baking, and spending cherished time with her loved ones.

She was a woman of strength, humility, and unwavering faith. Her life reflected the scripture of Proverbs 31:25, “Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.” Even in challenging moments, she remained steadfast, trusting wholly in God’s promises. Those who knew her will forever remember her as a prayer warrior, a nurturer, a devoted mother, grandmother, and a vessel of God’s abiding love.

During the evening of November 23, 2025, God gently called Priscilla home. She peacefully dropped her robe of flesh and entered into eternal rest, safe in the arms of her Savior. Though she no longer walks among us, her legacy will continue to shine brightly through every life she touched.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Gadson and Stephen Wilson; children, Alvin Reed, Calvin Reed, and Katina Reed; grandson, Javonte Reed; and a beloved sister, Mary J. Brantley.

Priscilla leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her devoted children, Betty (Bernard) Singleton of Estill, South Carolina, Melvin (Corrie) Gadson of Springfield, Georgia, Mack Reed, Jr., of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Tyrone Reed of Savannah, Georgia; sisters, Hattie Simmons of Ridgeland, South Carolina, Jannie (Marvin) Bowers of Garnett, South Carolina, Alice Scott of Pooler, Georgia, Marjorie (Cecil) Shuman of Pembroke, Georgia, Lena (Mamadou) Toure of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Helen Green of Furman, South Carolina; brothers, Stephen Wilson, Jr., of Garnett, South Carolina, and Leon (Jasmin) Wilson of Ohio; grandchildren, Travis Gadson, Reyna (Tony) Watson, Samantha Heyward, Melissa Potter-Brown, Jasmine Richardson, Tyrone Reed, Jr., Melvin (Candace) Gadson, Tamario Gadson, Sr., Brian Reed, Kendrick Singleton, Bentez Reed, and Bentou Reed; 10 great-grandchildren; godson, Jerrod Young; spiritual daughter, Valeria (Marlo) Richardson of Bluffton, South Carolina; bonus children, Steve, Peter, Andy, Jason Smith, and Martha Eady; brother-in-law, Earl Brantley of Beaufort, South Carolina; special friends, Rose Harden, Daisy Gadson, and JoAnn Addison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends whose lives are forever enriched because they knew her.

As we celebrate her life, we are comforted by the words of Psalm 116:15 —“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Priscilla’s departure is not an end but a beautiful homegoing, a reward for a life lived in obedience, service, and unwavering faith. Her earthly journey has ended, but the light she carried continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. May her life inspire us to walk in love, serve with humility, and trust God wholeheartedly, just as she did.
