Roger Waskett was born on September 7, 1950, to Archibald Cecil and Betty May Waskett. He was born in Southampton in England. He received his formal education in Electrical Engineering. Roger continued his studies and became a boat builder. He built two boats by hand while he was in England. One of the boats he built was named Sky. Roger sailed Sky from England to Florida. He lived in St. Mary’s GA, where he received certificates in Scuba Diving and as a Service Technician. He received diplomas for his training and was awarded the title of Captain Roger Waskett with the US Coast Guard.
He was a man of faith, strong convictions, and followed Christ’s teachings. He was a mentor and friend. Roger followed his dreams and lived the life he wanted to live.
Roger and Kathy Waskett were married on February 13, 2021, in Kingsland, GA. They did not have any children together but shared a strong love. They settled in Brunswick, GA, where they found a home that was built in 1947. Roger was highly creative and liked working at the boatyard in St. Mary’s, Diver’s Den, and A2 Zincs. His hobbies were woodworking, working on boats at the marina, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Waskett, Christopher, Daniel and their families. The family members are Christopher and Jessica, Alice and Sam, Daniel, Sarah, Theo and Isabelle. His mother Betty May Waskett, was one hundred years old and passed away 10 days after Roger. Roger was wonderful husband, friend, and will be missed.
