Shakeyra Brown Obituary

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelations 21:4

I’m sending a special message to all my family and friends that have gathered here today to celebrate my life. Many of you might think that my life on earth seems all to brief, but please don ’t prolong it with undue grief. Although my life was only twenty seven years, I ’ve had lots of good times, good friends, and much love from each of you. Don ’t worry about me. I traveled to so many places and my life has consisted of lots of fun and excitement. From the beginning to the end of time, all of my actions and stops along the way have determined my final resting place. To all of my family and friend don ’t be ungrateful or angry with God for taking me from what each of you perceive to be all too soon. Just remember all of the joy, I brought into each of your lives. When parents are given a child from God, it is an amazing gift.

God gave Janelle Ellison and Byron Brown this amazing bundle of joy on June 16, 1995, in Brunswick, Georgia. Shakeyra life was ordained by God and she was an amazing individual that took on many endeavors and succeeded in each of them. Shakeyra was an extraordinary and amazing individual who started her education in the public school system of Glynn County at the age of five. Her educational journey began at Burroughs Molette Elementary, Risley Middle and matriculated when she graduated as a member of Glynn Academy High School Class of 2014. After graduation, she attended Coastal Community College earning an associate degree in 2016, in Allied Health and Science. Shakeyra was always searching for ways to improve her life, so she returned to school and at the time of her death, she was pursuing a degree as a respiratory therapist. Shakeyra has worked in Food Service and was currently working at Southeast Georgia Health System as a communication specialist.

Shakeyra loved to travel whether it was by airplane or car. She loved all types of seafood. Family and friends were an important aspect of her life. Her joy in life came from taking care of her nieces and nephews. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Greater Hall Temple under the leadership of the late Dr. G Bobby Hall. She was baptized at the age of eight years old on August 31, 2003. As a member of Greater Hall Temple, she sang in the youth choir (GHT Teen Corral). She also served as a junior usher and kitchen ministry. Throughout life, she never forgot her spiritual foundation. She was a Teen Titan Cheerleader from 2005 -2007. At the time of her death, she was a member of New Glory Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Sharon Hall -Green.

Shakeyra JaShae’ Brown never said her final farewell to her family and friends. When God sent his angels to bring her home, it was much sooner than we planned, but we ’ll brave the grief that comes and try to understand. She departed this life on August 27, 2022, and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorothy and Ricky Vann.

She leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Janelle Ellison; father, Byron (Marlana) Brown; grandmother, Barbara (Robert) Grant; siblings, Stormi Ellison, Lemonica Thompson, Jr., Jaheim Ellison, Raeqwon (Shayla) Brown, D ’Mya (Shakaur) Thomas, and Byron (Jodayah) Brown, Jr.; aunts, Michelle Ellison, Deirdre (Rodney) Ports, Romona Vann, and Reshema (Deke) Vann Wilkerson, god sister, Quasha Goodwill; nephews, Sterling, Jacquan, and Kailen; a host of cousins, friends, and church family.
