Shirley L. Diggs was born on June 13, 1943, to Ms. Roseberta “Ma” Wylie, in Brunswick, GA. She was affectionately loved and cherished by her grandparents, Poppa and Grandma Ethel.
Shirley received Christ at an early age and held deep to her faith in Christ until her transition. She was raised in Zion Baptist Church and later joined Greater Works Ministries. Shirley received her education in the Glynn County school system and was a member of Risley High School, Class of 1961. She loved her classmates and enjoyed being at various functions throughout the years.
Shirley was employed and retired from the Glynn County school system in the Nutrition Department. She served many children throughout the years at Burroughs Mollette Elementary School, Jane Macon Middle School, and Glynn Academy High School. Shirley loved serving and encouraging the teachers and children she encountered daily.
Shirley enjoyed watching her favorite shows: The Young & The Restless, Bold & The Beautiful, Beyond The Gates, Gunsmoke, and The Andy Griffith Show. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, but more importantly, seeing Coach Mike Tomlin. Shirley loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking their favorite meals, especially during the holidays.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Ms. Roseberta Wylie (Ma); sister, Ms. Laura Jackson; son, Mr. Charles “Kenny” Diggs; daughter, Angela Diggs; grandson, Michael Diggs, Jr.; and granddaughter, Jessica Diggs.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Mr. Bernard (May) Diggs, Sr., Mrs. Gwendolyn Diggs-Tripp, Mr. Darrell Diggs, and Mr. Michael (Nicky) Diggs, Sr.; nephews, Gregory (Rosalyn) Diggs, Brian (Darlene) Jackson, Kendall (Tia) Jackson, Joseph Jackson, and Geroid (Kim) Bacon; niece, Tonya Jackson; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; special and close friends, Ms. Ethel Bush and Ms. Sarah Dock Winn; bonus daughter, Ms. Pamela Norman; and a host of sorrowing great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends.
