Her Story of Eighty-Three Years
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:8
Though I’m gone, my guidance will continue to shine upon each of your paths. I am at peace knowing that my children and grandchildren are surrounded by love and support. It was my time to depart my earthly home, though I know you all are sad now that I am at peace. Soletta Lilly Bell Duncan Taylor was born on June 6, 1942, to Solomon and Rosa Bell Duncan. She received her formal education in Allendale County schools and furthered her education at Morris College, where she was a cheerleader. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united with Goodwill Baptist Church, where she served as the church secretary, a member of the choir, a member of the missionary society, and a deaconess.
Soletta Lilly Bell Duncan was united in holy matrimony with Roosevelt Taylor, Jr. Their union was blessed with six children.
Her early employment started at Allendale Yarn Factory. She worked for many years as the Town Secretary for the Town of Gifford, Hampton County School District 2, where she retired after serving as a teacher’s aide and a bus driver. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #225 and the Gifford June Festival Committee.
