Obituary

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."  John 14:27

We belong to God; not only for a few fleeting years that we call life, but for eternity.  God is on both sides of the river. He walks with us during our earthly life and is there to receive us for our eternal life. We are in God’s presence in life, death, and everlasting, yet we must cross the river to receive our crown of life.  To my beautiful family members and friends on June 29, 2023, I turned my back and left it all when I saw God waiting for me on the other side.  I know my life appears to be brief, but I’ve lived an exciting and full life. God afforded me many wonderful opportunities, so don’t question Him about sending His angels sooner than we all planned.

I am leaving behind a legacy for each of you to continue. When God gave me to Ervin Wallace and Effie Wallace in Brunswick, Georgia on July 14, 1992, they were full of joy and thankful for this blessing.  I received my formal education in the Glynn County School System in Brunswick, Georgia; furthering my education at the technical school in Brunswick, GA; later becoming a CNA. At an early age, I attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where I sang in the choir, served on the usher’s ministry, Sunday School, and Praise Dance Team. I was “drugged to church” by my grandmother, the late Mother Ceola Polite. Later in life, I joined Shekinah Church under the leadership of Pastor Heshimu JD Sparks.

When a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing. God allowed me to be joined in holy matrimony to an amazing and loving man, who was the love of my life, Ben King on August 25, 2012, in Brunswick, Georgia.

I was the owner of Nicki’s Cleaning Services and a member of WOW “Women Optimizing Women”. There are many words that could be used to describe me, but I want my family members and friends to remember me as an amazing, loving, and caring wife and mother. During my leisure time, I enjoyed singing, dancing, playing with my grandchildren, and hanging out with my friends.

Waiting to greet me on the other side of the river will be my maternal grandparents, Ceola Polite, Nathan Polite, and James Demery, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Evangeline Wallace and Jeff Wallace.

Today is not a goodbye, it is a see you later to those I leave behind to cherish my memories:  husband, Benjamin King; mother, Effie M. Mosley; father, Ervin Wallace; bonus dad, Dock Conaway; children, Shenequa Wallace, Willie “Mackie” Wallace, Mikalia Wallace, Benjamin King II, Tabias Curry, and Makia Reddings; siblings, Guy Mann, Dementrious Lawrence, Alicia Ferguson, O’Yonna White-Wallace, Rayfield Youngblood, Toni Boyd and Kenyatta Wallace; sisters/cousins, LaToya Demery Lightfoot, Lil Genesis Demery-Dye whom she affectionally called “Da Bug.”; grandchildren, Ja’Kaden Owens, Zy’Nya Simmons, Zyon Wallace and Tabias Curry, Jr. “TJ”; Godparents, Jane & Richard Knight; aunt, Barbara Ann (Terry) Carmena, Delores Polite, and Betty Beckham; uncles, James “Pop” Demery III and Deacon Benny (Diane) Demery and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
