Terance Johnson Obituary

We were once told that great souls die and sometimes memories fade away, but I am leaving each of you my legacy because God Almighty has set me free. There’s peace and serenity at the end of my life’s journey. As you celebrate the end of my life’s journey, I pray that each of you will find comfort in knowing that a loving and compassionate God knows what’s best for each of us, even when we don’t know what’s best for us. We’ve shared so many fun memories, countless hours of laughter and so much love, so keep these memories of me within each of your hearts. Use them to comfort the pain when your start to miss my presence. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding take away all tears. Through all the pain and suffering, remember the joy that I brought into your lives. Life has a joyful beginning, but sometimes it can be a painful ending for those loved ones we leave behind. I don’t want my exit from this life to be painful for any of my family and friends, so begin each day with a smile.

The joy that I brought to this world began on October 24, 1959, in Brunswick, Georgia. What a handsome bundle of joy God gave to his parents, Alexander Johnson and Eunice James Johnson! Terance had a distinct magnetic personality that he wore with both humility and an appropriate sense of confidence. He was educated in the public school system of Glynn County, Georgia, and was a graduate of Glynn Academy, Brunswick, Georgia. After graduation, Terance enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably for twenty years. After retiring from the military, he attended DeVry Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed a degree in computer technology. There were many things that he liked doing, but his favorite hobbies were photography and reading. A spiritual connection with God was very important in his life, which he found by attending Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where he sang in the male choir. Forming relationships was an important part of his character as an individual. He wanted to model this characteristic with his family. He was a proud grandfather of ten and had close relationships with all of them. Terance was an avid photographer and rarely did you see him without his camera. One thing many could say who really knew him, he loved his scratch off tickets and requested them in lieu of gifts at his 60th birthday party. Many people knew him as the type of man that would give the shirt off his back all while making you laugh. No matter what he was going through, he refused to let it get the best of him. Many memories were imperative to him, and that’s why he would take out his camera and make the smallest gathering a photo shoot. Giving back to others was instilled in him during his career with the military, so he volunteered for years with the Big Brother’s program in Atlanta, winning many awards for his dedication to his mentees. Terance was an entrepreneur at heart, which led him in owning a photography company named “Niceshot Photography.” Terance was a master at capturing the true essence of beauty, which often granted him access to the Trumpet Awards and other high-profile events because of his advanced photography skills. It is impossible to capture his life without mentioning that he loved grilling and loved bragging about his skills. One of his specialties was his “beer can chicken.” Another important aspect of his life was his honesty; one could always count on him being honest with everybody. He was just a down to earth person with a heart of gold. He was the IT tech at Cotton Indian Elementary School. The staff and the students enjoyed him. Early in the mornings, you could find him sitting outside and drinking his coffee.

As we come to the close of a beautiful life with very few regrets, the most important accomplishments that he would want everyone to remember about him was the fact that, “Terrance Johnson was a dedicated father, brother, and friend.” God’s plans are not always our plans. When the angels came for Terance on June 18, 2022, it was much sooner than we planned, but we’ll brave the grief that comes and try to understand.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Reni Johnson and Kenneth Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Kashia (Jason) Johnson-Belton, Terri Johnson, Tiffany Smith; grandchildren,Na’twan Rembert, Da’shawn Brown, Da’von Brown, Antwan Johnson, Chanel Phillips, Octavis Tucker, Khloe Tucker, Jason Belton, Jr., Khalil Belton, Bryson Belton, great grandchildren, Infiniti Rembert, Gabrielle Coleman; brothers, Ronald (Deborah) Johnson, Darrell (Judy) Johnson - Naylor; sister, Marcia Smith; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
