Thomas Golden, Jr. Obituary

In life, God lends his children to this world for a brief period of time. He expects that our family will love and teach us until he sends his angels to bring us home. Thomas W. Golden, Jr., affectionately known to his family and friends as “Blue” was born to Jessie and Thomas W. Golden, Sr., on March 9, 1954, in Brunswick Georgia. He received his formal education in the Glynn County School System in Brunswick, GA. Blue was a graduating member of Brunswick High School Class of 1972. He later became employed by the Brunswick Pulp and Paper Mill, now Georgia Pacific Cellulose, where he worked for 24 years and subsequently worked at Test Tech Environmental as an independent contractor.

At an early age, his father took him and his siblings to church regularly. Although, he strayed from the church for a period in his adulthood, he found his way back. After he became sick in 2012, he realized that God had given him a second chance at life, and he recommitted to spiritual growth and fellowship. Blue became an active member of Brunswick Second Presbyterian Church, where he rededicated his life to God. Based on his service and dedication, he was later chosen to become a deacon in the church. He routinely prepared communion, sang in the choir, and helped in any capacity as needed. It was not unusual for him to tend to the landscape at the church or clean the sanctuary after service. Blue was known for lending his time, talent, and resources to anyone he could. Even with limited mobility, he found a way to help others in the community with various tasks such as yardwork and an unlimited supply of humor to lift their spirits.

On December 29, 2022, the one we loved so dearly, ended his earthly journey and entered into his resting place. He was proceeded in death by his father, Thomas W. Golden, Sr.; mother, Jessie M. Golden; and sister, Marjorie L. West all of Brunswick, GA.

He leaves to cherish fond memories of his life: sons, Rodric L. Golden (LaToya) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Rashad L. Golden of Atlanta, GA; his ex-longtime partner and mother of his two sons, Clara Bens-Vinson of Brunswick, GA; grandsons, Thai A. Golden, Anderson P. Golden, and Zhamir R. Golden; sisters, Barbara G. Fambrough of Riverdale, GA, Shelia D. Thornton of Gainesville, FL, and Ella E. Lang (Abby) of Brunswick, GA; brothers, Ronald L. Golden, Sr. (Eleanor) of Douglasville, GA, and Donald L. Golden (Pamela) of Jonesboro, GA; God-daughter, Amesia Mackey of Brunswick, GA; aunts, Juanita Mock, Sallie Davis, and Katie Nelson all of Philadelphia, PA; uncles, Sam Golden (Juanita) of Guyton, GA, and Carl Golden (Gwendolyn) of Philadelphia, PA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
