Tia Estella Sams was born on November 18, 1999, in Brunswick, Georgia to Warrick and Teresa Sams. She received her formal education at Fleming Island High
School in Fleming Island, Florida. She furthered her education at St. Johns Community College in Orange Park, Florida.
Tia always loved everyone with every beat in her heart. Her only regret would be that she won’t get to witness any of the milestones in her children’s lives. Just know that Tia is now watching over all of them from above, so soar like the stars that God has blessed each of you to be. Tia was always meek, humble, and quiet. In her leisure time, she enjoyed caring for her babies. She was passionate about raising money for premature babies in the NICU.
God’s plans are not always our plans. When the angels came for her on November 12, 2023, which was much sooner than we planned, we had to brave the grief that
came and try to understand. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Eugene Sams and Nathaniel Dunwoody, Jr.; mother and father in-law, Linda and Elijah Shorter; uncle, Eugene Sams, Jr.; and aunt, Kathy Sams.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Amoura Shorter, Harley Shorter, and Hannah Shorter; parents, Warrick and Teresa Sams; brother, Warrick Sams II; sisters, Brittany Kinsey and Tiara Sams; spouse, Jonathan Shorter; uncles, Michael Litman (Challatea William) and Freddie Sams (China Sams); aunties, Jowann Sams, Tiffany Dorsey, Natasha Stevens, Tameka Eboweme (Samuel); grandfather, Robert Dorsey; grandmothers, Faye Dorsey and Estella Sams;; and a host of cousins and friends.
