Tobias McGauley Obituary

We all are flowers in the Master’s garden, and, in another aspect, we all are sojourners here, as well, for this world is not our home. For some of us, our stay here is a long one, for others the stay is short.  It is with great sadness that Martin Funeral Home announces the transitioning of Tobias A. McGauley on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.  We are reminded of Matthew 5:4, which tells us: “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” God reserves a special comfort for those who mourn and we are praying that the Spirit of God will pour out that comfort lavishly upon the family and close ones of  Tobias A. McGauley as they adjust to a life without him.

We all are flowers in the Master’s garden, and, in another aspect, we all are sojourners here, as well, for this world is not our home. For some of us, our stay here is a long one; for others, the stay is short. As we gather to celebrate the life of Tobias Antwan McGauley, our hearts are heavy, we don’t understand God’s decision, so we are looking to Heaven for our strength today and forever. Mr. Tobias Antwan McGauley was born in Allendale County on June 10, 1996, to Marianne Deloris Jackson and Tobias McGauley. Tobias was educated in the public schools of Hampton County and was a 2015 graduate of Estill High School, Estill, South Carolina. At an early age, he chose Christ as his savior and joined First Estill Baptist Church. He was raised in Nixville, SC and was employed as a landscaper at The Greenery, Hilton Head Island, SC, While attending school in Hampton District #2, he was active in sports, playing football, basketball and running track. During his tenure, the track team won the State Championship for the 4 X 400 relay race. Tobias was a quiet, well-mannered, and respectful young man. When he wasn’t working, his pastime was spent listening to music and playing his X-Box 360.

As Tobias transitioned from Earth to eternity on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, and he began his new journey of life, he was greeted by his many loved ones whom departed before him: his maternal grandmother, Ms. Adell Roberts; great-grandparents, Mr. John and Mrs. Zula Roberts; and paternal grandparents, Mr. Franklin Sr., and Mrs. Birdie Mae Ruth.

He leaves to cherish his love and fond memories: his parents, Deloris Ruth and Franklin Ruth Jr.; paternal grandparents, Dewey (Sylvia) McGauley, Savannah, GA; maternal grandfather, Lonnie Williams, Stewart, FL; adopted grandmother, Anna Isham, Garnett, SC; three brothers, Kendric (Aurelia) Jackson, Beaufort, SC, Franklin Ruth III, Hampton, SC, and Antonio (Candace) Ruth, Crestwiew, FL; six sisters, Towonna Ruth, Charlotte, NC, Natalie (Gerald) Fuller, Winchester, CA, Renee (Ron) Freeman, Columbia, SC; Alea (Andre) McLean, San Diego, CA; Treeonia Hosendove and Tearia Hosendove both of Columbia, SC; nine uncles, Abdual (Valerie) Salaam, Lonnie Williams, Calvin William, Mark Roberts all of Bridgeport, CT, Johnny (Patricia) Ruth, Charles Ruth; Micheal (Sophia) Ruth, all of Nixville, SC, Clarence (Shay) Ruth, Ocala, FL, and Leroy (Tara) Ruth, Ruffin, SC; eleven aunts, Barbara Fluid and Charlene Williams, Fairfax, SC, Ametria McGauley, Gaston, NC, Sherri McGauley, Waycross, GA, Marshell (Anthony) Smith, Penny (Benjamin) Holmes, Trish Ann Comier, all of Hampton, SC, Mary (Leon) Driesson, Hilton Head, SC, Francena Hopkins, Lexington, SC, Minnie Black, Estill, SC, Zula Evans, Stanford, CT; seven adopted aunts, Diane, Ruth Ann, Jennette, Sharon, Shalesha, Dawn, and Queen; three God sisters, Temple Comier, Hampton, SC and Jamiyah Bellinger and Jamerrah Bellinger of Beaufort, SC; eight nephews; five nieces; one special nephew, Kayden Parker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
